Your role in the Committed to Education
program is the most critical of all! You can choose to implement this
program in your school, and the good news is, it’s easy.
- At the beginning of 2004-05 school
year, distribute flyers to all your third through fifth graders.
- Talk up the program with parents
at open houses and parent conferences.
- For 2004-05, schools are
encouraged to give interim incentives to students in the
third through fifth grades who have met the criteria thus far. This
keeps the students interested and motivated to continue their
studies. The interim incentives can be anything from honoring the
students during the end of the year assembly to donated items like
books or movie passes, or even a field trip. Contact your local
Chamber of Commerce to help make these interim incentives a reality
for your school.
- Encourage Chambers of Commerce and
business leaders to support the Committed to Education program by
providing interim incentives to these kids.
- Include an article in your
newsletters about the License to Learn program.

file. Or click here to download it
in a Microsoft Word document,
- Midway through the year, copy and
distribute Committed to Education Flyers for your students
as a reminder of the program, and to do well in school.
- At the end of the 2004-05 school year,
reward those students who have met the program guidelines thus far by recognizing them in
your end of the year assembly, providing them with a treat, or even a
field trip.
- Following the 2005-6 school year, 6th grade
principals will be asked to submit a Year-end
Status Report to the Foundation, indicating the number and
names of students who have met the License to Learn attendance program
guidelines.
- When principals have received
results from the 6th grade Arkansas ACCTAP Exam and determined the
students who have met the academic criteria, then principals are
asked to complete and send the
Student Qualifying Report
to
the Foundation.
In turn, the students who have met
both the academic and attendance program guidelines will receive
a technology incentive as a reward for their hard work!
Students must also have had attended an Arkansas public school for
three complete years.
